Fall of 2010 - A New Start

Is it fall already? The first day of fall was indeed yesterday, and wow, this year has flown. It seems like yesterday that Lookin at Lucky was prancing around as a two year old, and Derby fever was beginning to grip us all. Wow, it's been a while.

But, we're back to business around here! And here it goes:

So, one of my more promising three year olds, Afleet Express, is out for the season. It's a shame, because this year has seemed to lack that great three year old crop. Which I wasn't really having a problem with, as I have Lookin at Lucky, who is continuing to be incredible, despite all the hard-luck he seems to encounter. Love this colt to death.

Three year old will clash again (without Lucky,) in the Pa. Derby this Saturday. First Dude is favored, which I agree with, but I'd keep an eye on Afleet Again. He's looking for a breakout race, and this field might come out soft enough for him to do so.

Anybody remember Square Eddie? Well, he's back! He's not a stud dud, and if he's as fine as they say he is, it'll be interesting to watch how he career progresses.

Court Vision is back to his old ways in the Woodbine, running with style and purpose. This colt seems to be coming back, I defintely was missing seeing him of late. Gio Ponti is still probably my favorite turf horse at the moment though, so the BC Turf in the future will be a nice one to watch.

And, last note for today, the Barbaro brothers are back in action this weekend, Nicanor and Lentenor! Love those guys, can't wait to see them run!!
